He Is Our Motivation

It's not so much about ministering to the poor, as it is ministering to Jesus. When our aim is to encounter Him, we also encounter those that are closest to His heart (the poor, broken, addicted, lost). If we are motivated by His heart it is natural to go to the least. He Himself becomes our motivation.
