An Unexpected Walk

One day on a quick stopover in Amsterdam changed me deeply.

I booked a hostel in the centrum, and at the invitation of the Spirit began to walk through the Red Light District. Walking past the windows exhibiting women felt like a sledgehammer to my heart. I wanted to leave, but then I sensed Papa come near. Something shifted and I am became aware of His heart beating within my own and of light all around me, which I began to release as I walked the streets. The grief of His heart for the broken filling the streets and secret rooms became something we shared as I walked through a city crying out for true love and intimacy.

In the morning I went again on a walk, passing a man with wild, grey hair and piercing eyes, aware of my Beloved in disguise, and felt Him near sitting in the company of a group of men who were gathered with their belongings around a bench.

As I walked, one ear with earbud in listening to music, the other attuned to the song of the Spirit over the broken city, I heard a chorus of unrestricted, unfathomable, extravagant love being sung.

What can you do but weep at such a love?
