All I have to Give
Rebekah and I hopped into a van one afternoon, just the two of us and a Mozambican pastor, and headed to the hospital to pray for the sick! The Lord filled us with great joy to pour out His heart in this way. When we arrived at the pediatric ward with a bag of oranges we sat for a few minutes in the foyer and began to sing "our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your name...Your kingdom, come quickly, Your will be done the same." The song echoed through the wide corridor as the afternoon sun fell through the windows on two women and a baby with a bandage on his head. The presence of God fell and joy gripped and overwhelmed us as we prepared to enter the ward. Once inside we each split up with a translator and in each room shared something from The Lord and then laid hands on each child (& parent with them) and prayed over them.
In a room for burn victims God had me share the story of the prodigal son and how The Father longs to put a new robe on us and welcome us back to himself. In another room I shared about my work with The Relief Bus and explained how I had come to receive the love of God through the pouring out of His love through me. A young mom with a baby wrapped in her lap received prayer and her eyes filled with tears as I hugged her and kissed her on both cheeks (as is the custom) after praying for her and her child.
The Lord longs to comfort us His children in our affliction, and the Gospel becomes so simple when all you have to give, like Peter, is the gift of faith for healing. Our Father wants to place His great big hands on our heads and look us in the eyes to show us that Love has come to save us. Thanks be to God.
